Why use parallettes instead of putting your hands on the floor? The 5 benefits!

When you're practicing Street Workout and especially exercises like push-ups or the Handstand, every detail counts, especially the surface on which you train.

Many practitioners naturally start with their hands on the ground. And that's fine for learning the basics. But as soon as you want to progress, go further or take care of your body, parallettes quickly become an indispensable tool.

👉 In this article, we explain why using parallettes can radically improve your practice, save you unnecessary pain and help you turn a corner in your workouts.

1. Reducing wrist pain: comfort first

This is one of the first benefits you'll notice. On push-ups, handstands or L-sits, placing your hands flat on the floor creates a forced extension of the wrist. In the short term, this is bearable. But in the medium to long term, it can lead to joint pain and even injury.

👉 Parallettes keep your wrists in a neutral, more natural and ergonomic position.
Result: less tension, more comfort, especially if you practice often.

This is a huge advantage for anyone who already suffers from wrist discomfort, or who simply wants to preserve it over time.

2. More amplitude = more gains

parallettes benefits

Range of motion is an essential lever for progress. With your hands on the ground, your body is limited by... the ground. You can't go any lower.

Parallettes, on the other hand, give you height, and therefore greater amplitude on each exercise.

👉 Example: a pump on parallettes allows you to go lower than a classic pump. This increases muscle stretch, especially in the pectorals and shoulders, and creates stronger mechanical stress.

More amplitude = more activated fibers = more results.

You can also use this advantage on HSPUs or pike push-ups.

3. Greater stability on advanced figures

Figures such as the handstandthe L-sit, or the plank require total body control. And the more you progress, the more essential stability becomes. Parallettes give you a solid, stable base, with a grip that's firmer than the ground. This limits micro-slip and lets you concentrate solely on your technique.

👉 Parallettes also improve transition control: moving from tuck to board, or from L-sit to handstand becomes smoother, cleaner, safer.

4. A versatile, minimalist and portable tool

parallettes

What we love about Street Workout is the freedom. No need for a room full of machines. Just your body weight... and sometimes a few well-chosen pieces of equipment.

👉 Parallettes are: compact, lightweight, easy to take anywhere, they fit into all your routines, whether you train at home, outdoors or indoors.

You can use them for :

  • Classic or explosive pumps

  • L-sit and V-sit

  • Board and variations

  • Pike push-ups

  • Handstand

With just one pair of parallettes, you can work on strength, sheathing, balance and mobility, without changing equipment.

5. Better hygiene, especially outdoors

There's one thing we often overlook, but it's important:hygiene. In the gym or at home, this isn't always a problem. But outdoors, putting your hands directly on the ground can quickly become unpleasant, even risky (dirt, dust, debris, bacteria...).

👉 Parallettes allow you to train cleanly, without direct contact with the ground.
This is particularly useful in parks, on concrete or in urban environments.

In short: parallettes, a real game changer

Parallettes aren't just a cool accessory to add to your workout. They bring comfort, safety, amplitude, stability and real technical added value to every movement.

👉 Whether you're a beginner or an expert, they'll :

  • Relieve your wrists

  • Develop your strength more effectively

  • Speed up your progress on advanced figures

  • Improve your training comfort and consistency
