#24 - The Immense Power of Cold Showers
Find all the other episodes and ask me a question here.
Episode 24 - Two years ago, I took my first intentional cold shower. Since then, I've had plenty of time to learn a ton about what they can do for me, I've had time to stop taking them and then start again, and I've had time to push the cold experience much closer to its limits.
In this episode, I'll first trace my personal journey and my relationship with the cold over the past two years, with its ups and downs (don't worry, it ends well haha).
Then, I'll go over all the attributed benefits and what I think about them, as well as a complete list of all the real and concrete pros and cons I've observed for myself until today.
As mentioned in this episode, on March 29th, a video will be released on my YouTube channel that chronicles the last 4 months where I confronted the freezing cold of nature. It's a video you won't want to miss 😉
Enjoy your listening! 😃

Hey Eric, I'm getting in touch about your question on why cold showers or baths are good, or maybe not so good. Well, from my experience, it's a bit like everything else: if you only take cold showers to feel good, it simply won't be enough. Because even though we're all broken down into little pieces – social life, food, family, sports, hobbies, etc. – no, we're a whole, and it's that whole that needs to be in balance for things to work. If you only eat well but you're stuck in a box, it won't do anything, and it's the same for all other mental, physiological, and physical techniques. But if we ever manage to balance all our areas – and I mean *all* these areas – then yes, indeed, for cold exposure, it's a very important point because it pushes us out of our comfort zone physiologically.
The thing is, we don't necessarily have the patience or the ideas for all areas, and we have blocks or issues... and it's true that selling a technique by saying it's miraculous is absolutely false; it's just business if you don't consider everything else. Even though all the people who are pioneers and share their knowledge with others are very interesting, you really have to see what each person needs to rebalance to achieve that famous well-being we all seek, that total bliss that's absolutely not easy to get.
Anyway, for the rest, I think you're a really cool guy, and I see you're doing your thing like everyone else, and especially, especially from my old age... never stop, keep following your heart and doing what makes you happy.
If I can give you one piece of advice, it's that breathing is a very, very, very important thing, complementing all activities, whether it's sports, challenges, life's trials – basically, all of life. You need to know that we're a very, very high-performing machine, but it always needs to be properly ventilated to be at its peak performance. Alright, I'll stop there. So I follow you on your videos, I "like" you, as you young folks say, and I'll see you very, very soon!
PS: I'm adding a little something because I'm listening to your podcast at the same time... when you were sick in 2020, I think with your tonsillitis, it was actually your body eliminating toxins. No matter the illness, it's very, very beneficial; it's not a mistake in the journey. I mean, the body also expresses itself this way to say "stop, I need to do something," which means getting rid of certain things that are bothering it....
